User Data Deletion

You can request deletion of personal data we hold about you from interactions with Sequoia Carpentry (Malaysia) or Sequoia Contractor (Singapore). This page tells you what we store, how to request deletion, what we delete, and what we may have to keep for legal reasons.
1. What we store
If you have messaged us on WhatsApp, we hold:
- Your WhatsApp display name and phone number (as provided by Meta)
- The text/voice/image/document content of your messages
- Our replies and conversation timestamps
- Any labels or status markers we attached internally (e.g., "quote requested", "delivered")
2. How to request deletion
Pick the channel easiest for you:
Option A — Message us on WhatsApp
Send "DELETE MY DATA" (or in your own words — we read every message) from the same WhatsApp number you previously used to contact us. We will respond within 7 business days confirming receipt.
Option B — Email
Write to
privacy@sequoia-group.co with the subject
"Data Deletion Request" and include the WhatsApp phone number(s) you used to contact us.
3. What we delete
Upon request and identity verification, we will:
- Delete the WhatsApp conversation thread from our internal records
- Delete your contact entry (name, phone, notes)
- Remove your message content from any operational notes
4. What we may have to keep
Malaysian and Singapore law require us to retain certain records even if you request deletion. We may keep:
- Tax records — under the Malaysian Income Tax Act and Singapore Income Tax Act, we must retain invoicing, payment, and transaction records for 7 years.
- Contract records — for any work we performed for you, we keep the signed contract and delivery evidence for the statutory limitation period (6 years in MY, 6 years in SG) in case of warranty claims or disputes.
- Anti-money-laundering records — where applicable.
Where retention is legally required, the data is access-restricted and not used for marketing or further processing.
5. How long it takes
- We acknowledge your request within 7 business days
- Deletion completed within 30 days of verified request, per Singapore PDPA s.21 and Malaysian PDPA timing norms
- You receive written confirmation when deletion is complete

If you believe we have not handled your deletion request properly:
- Malaysia: contact the Department of Personal Data Protection (pdp.gov.my)
- Singapore: contact the Personal Data Protection Commission (pdpc.gov.sg)
